FOOD AND CRAFTS MELA HELD AT SRI RAMANUJA SAMSKRUTI BHAVAN,
MALLESWARAM BANGALORE ON THE 7TH AND 8TH OF JULY.
Dear Mandayams,
The Mandayam Food and Craft mela, held on 7th and 8th July 2018, was a successful event. It was held earlier to avoid many events getting cramped in the month of November and also due to the request of few members who wanted the Mela to be held before Krishna Jayanti. The Mela was inaugurated by Sri. Mathre Rangarajan who spoke a few words of encouragement and wished all the participants the very best.
There were 8 craft stalls and 3 food stalls in total. We saw the varied talents of Mandayams displayed in the craft stalls, which included jewellery, decorative items, rangolis and handmade woollen dolls. We also saw saw stalls of bags and garments. Members were excited and did brisk business. Since last year, there has been an endowment for the best craft stall. This year too, a competition was held and judges were called and the judges had a tough time selecting the winners. The endowment is given by Mr. MK Radhakrishna in memory of Thiruvengdamma (w/o MA Krishnaswamy) of Makaram family and Smt. Rajalakshmi (w/o RS Iyengar) of Ramanujamuni family.
The prize winners were Smt. Sucheta Harsha, Smt. Radha Sampath and Smt. Rajani Rajesh.
The food stalls in the basement served different cuisines. One stall had vegan chocolate cakes, chaats and mangai ohare, while another one had dosas, puliyohare and healthy juices. The other stall had authentic Mandyam Iyengar food like ellugarige, manavaram, vellapair, ksheerannam etc.
The visitors enjoyed the Mela and had a great time.
I thank everybody for the successful event
